Any modicum of intelligence possessed by the best of the comics, (and there is very, very little) is completely drained in favor of material designed to appeal to literally everyone. These movies take no risks. They are thoroughly vetted, focus-grouped, market-tested. That one could walk away from three hours of such blatant pandering feeling anything other than insulted is indictment enough of our cultural moment.”
