To avoid delay when migrating a website IP, what I usualy do is to first migrate on a HAProxy (like 2 days before switching) so all ISP DNS are update and on the D-day I switch my backend to the new website/VM. And then I change my DNS again to the new IP. You have to tune a bit to get the right IP in your logs but so far it works.
