- GVIrish 7y agoThat may be because mosquito predators have been hit very hard by pesticides whereas the mosquitos have developed resistance. A dragonfly eating mosquitos ends up with a higher concentration of a pesticide because it eats a lot of other insects that may have been exposed to a pesticide. The other problem for the dragonfly is that it has a longer lifecycle and produces less offspring per generation than a mosquito. So it has far less ability to achieve pesticide resistance than the mosquito does. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/2019/05/how-pesticides-actually-increase-mosquito-numbers/ https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/2019/05/how-p...
