There are actually a couple classes of airspace that are technically “controlled” but don’t require authorization from nearby towers.

- bsamuels 7y agoFor the purpose of non-aviation people reading a comment thread about drones, it's good enough. I could edit my post and include all the weird side cases about controlled airspace but at the end of the day it's not relevant to the reader.
