Probably because they have the Apple Store app for the iPad. However, the Apple Store app does not have all the configuration options for hardware that you get on the real site, as one example.

Technically the Apple Store app is only for the iPhone. There's a lot more on the Apple site than the store.

  And that's mainly because the Apple Store is terrible on the iPhone version of Safari.
