Our time-zone system is already flexible enough for regions for which this is a problem to pick up something else that works for them (we already have regions that use DST and regions that do not). I live in Austria and it makes absolutely no sense for me to use the exact same system as somebody in the north pole, or for me and those in the north pole to "compromise" on a system that's bad for both of us.
