Q: What's an easy way to bench 1,000 pounds?
A: Lift 100 pounds 10 times.
There's nothing wrong with taking it easy, and in fact I think you should if you're just starting out. But at some point you have to ask yourself whether you're in the race because you're passionate about it or whether you're in the race because you want to tell you facebook friends you ran a marathon.
- ecounysis 16y agoBeing in the race and finishing would necessarily imply some sort of passion. Most likely the source of this passion is wanting to tell yourself you can (and did) do it.
- watty 16y agoFinishing a marathon is a big deal and something to be proud of. Don't belittle it with your awful analogy.
- brianlash 16y agoOf course it is. I'm saying that maybe the guy investing his time hacking the long run would be more gratified giving his all in the 10k or half marathon. What about that (innocuous?) piece of advice unnerves you so much?
