If I were to say I disagree with this comment, a valid rebuttal would not be of the form "Toxic as applied to individuals today just means ..." - there is a difference between lacking meaning and becoming generic as to be near tautological (something which I don't think is true) and the meaning shifting to cover other behaviors.
