I moved from borg to restic because of the native support for B2 buckets (a lot cheaper than dedicated rsync/ssh type cloud file systems). My use case is backing up daily snapshots of my Onedrive (synced locally via rclone). As my important files are mostly immutable (photo library, pdfs), I don’t have to prune snapshots. Pruning is really slow compared to borg. I never backup workstations or home directories, as I can always generate them again using NixOS and home manager. For source code, nothing beats git repos.
