I understand that Restic is using deduplication but what's the advantage over rsnapshot? There's AES encryption but how do you handle the credentials with automated backups?
- ansible 7y agoI've been using rsnapshot for a decade or more. For a modest amount of data (a few TB) the performance is adequate, and it is easy to verify the backups. It is also easy to restore files, just go into the directory corresponding to the date of the backup. I could try to run compression in the filesystem itself to save space, but haven't done that so far.
