- dsego 7y agoAfaik, restic does incremental backups (diffs) and encryption. This is great if you need to go back in time and it's safer if something for example corrupts your files (the backups don't get overwritten with corrupt versions). But it is more difficult to restore, the files are split into chunks for deduplication, so you are not able to actually see your backed up files — you need to run the restore process first. I am using rclone right now, and have it set up to archive old file versions (--backup-dir). It's simpler and covers my needs for now.
- specto 7y agoActually you can use rclone as a backend to send your blocks to wherever rclone supports. quite nice.
