I'd disagree. Advertising exists in very subtle forms such as mere persuasion and even more subtly, plain information. The background radiation present in the cosmos advertises the big bang's existence.

- journalctl 7y agowhoosh My point was that advertising doesn’t need to exist in its current state. It’s not some immutable facet of the universe that Google tracks us everywhere and then directs targeted crap at us.
