This has become a lot more noticeable within the last few years (e.g., the Washington Post editorial "Why can't we hate men?"), and it is indeed having a negative effect on my state of mind. Not easy to do, but I've been working hard on withdrawing from social media, outrage news, etc., and those who are wrapped up in it. It seems appealing in the moment, but I do think it ultimately contributes to this sort of despair.
