- averros 7y agoYeah, that's why Soviet Union was such a hotbed of innovation. Oh, wait... She made a simple logical error of confusing correlation with causation. Innovation results in better economy which results in government being able to spend on whatever, including subsidizing research. Government R&D is usually horribly inefficient and famous for enormous boondoggles like Space Shuttle, OSI network stack, or fifth generation computers.
