I always find amusing that in many countries Andrea (which literally means "male") is a girl's name. Is there an equivalent for boys?

- tempguy9999 7y agoDoes it? Any links? Perhaps from the greek Andros? I'm curious.
- lultimouomo 7y agoYes, it comes from "aner" in Greek: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea
- zajio1am 7y agoI do not think that is surprising, considering -a is feminine suffix in many languages, and there there is masculine version Andreas (with -as masculine suffix). And i understand literal meaning of Andrea / Andreas / Andrew more like 'manly' than 'male'.
