The industry keyword is "BIM" = "building information management". Static renders of building walkthroughs have been around for a while, but firms have been demonstrating weekly interactive walkthroughs over video conference for at least the past 5 years. They also do pretty accurate fluid dynamics modeling for smoke clearance in fires, ventilation etc. which takes into account interior surfaces and sunlight.
