This is exactly how it reads -- OP sounds like he has a streak of arrogance and entitlement.
- why-oh-why 7y agoThat’s not how it sounds to me. It’s entirely possible that someone less competent is in a position higher than yours. Also modesty won’t get you anywhere in your career.
- lidHanteyk 7y agoIf you interfere in a romance, their partner may break your nose. If you interfere with the healthy operation of your team, your boss may dismiss you. If you cannot muster empathy for others, at least muster an awareness of the consequences of your actions.
- robjan 7y agoModesty and arrogance aren't true opposites. It's quite common, especially with more junior developers, to overestimate one's own skills and underestimate other's. Not having some sense of modesty and trying to step on others to get to the top will win you more enemies than friends and someone who is unpopular with their colleagues doesn't usually do a very good job at leading.
- s_dev 7y ago>It’s entirely possible that someone less competent is in a position higher than yours. Remember all the so called competencies mentioned are assessed by OP. It could well be the case that the CTO is actually very competent and OP isn't. Never rely on a self assessment to determine competence.
- Scarblac 7y ago> It’s entirely possible that someone less competent is in a position higher than yours. So?
