I would do alias ls "exa" alias ll "exa -ll" That way you get the nice shorter output which comes in handy for piping ls things like: ls -d | xargs ls

alias ls "exa"
alias ll "exa -ll"
That way you get the nice shorter output which comes in handy for piping ls things like:
ls -d | xargs ls
Lists the files in subdirectories.
