Startups are typically awful for this because the business is the founder's baby and they can't understand why other people aren't willing to sacrifice as much as they are.
I've felt it first hand and in the exit interview the founder didn't even understand I wasn't in it for the stock options are they're vested after 3 years and no way he paid me enough to actually buy in.
