FWIW in both my interview loops at Google, I've had a call with the recruiter before any kind of tech screen. I think that's standard practice. May vary when considering interns / new grads, I'm not sure.
- unlinked_dll 7y agoSame here, but it's my understanding that they don't strictly hire for specific roles/teams and take a large number of unsolicited applications. The tech screen is also interactive with an engineer which is much better than automated assignments with a time limit.
