I was working for a company in Irvine, CA that did VoIP/telephony. Some of our stuff was pretty neat. We ended up open sourcing part of the project. It was a C++/CORBA system that allowed for passing of messages of different types (calendar, bulletin board, e-mail, faxes, and voicemails) across the various transports. It looks like the sourceforge site still exists: http://tucan.sourceforge.net http://tucan.sourceforge.net Ironically, the company was called Difinium at the time it folded and I ended up moving from there to Digium doing similar things with Asterisk.
