Depends on the environment, but a lot of print/exception-based debugging as you'd expect, or use REPLs when they're available. I do a lot of web work currently and occasionally use the debugger in Firefox. I have also used GDB in other contexts. I don't really feel like I'm too lacking in this department, but maybe the things I do aren't too complex.
