If you're not aware of Google Takeout[0] I highly recommend looking into it. I take regular backups of my entire account, and persist them on a personal server (which has its own layers of replication.) This may not be the contingency plan you mean, but I've found it to be one useful piece of that puzzle.

- m-p-3 7y agoThis is IMO the best option. Just wondering, do you automate the process, or you simply take a backup once in a while? And for OP: the MBOX file format used for Mail works well in Mozilla Thunderbird using this addon ( https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/ https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/importexporttoo... ), if you need something to visualize its content easily.
