I've upgraded to Catalina on my 2015 MacBook Pro the day it released (didn't run the betas), and I haven't experienced any problems.
I mostly use it for development, everything still works.
My only annoyance so far has been SideCar, it just never works the first time, I have to switch from second display to mirror, then back to second display to make it work.
- stock_toaster 7y agoI have had a few weird freezes/lock-ups, which I think were related to time machine going out to lunch. Other than that, it’s been pretty good. Battery life improvement, seems faster, etc.
- kranner 7y agoSidecar is officially supported only on 2016 and later MacBook Pros. https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT210380#systemrequirements https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT210380#systemrequirements I use a 2015 MBP too, so I'm glad to hear it does work and thanks for the workaround.
- woutr_be 7y agoOh that's strange, pretty sure mine is a 2015 model. (Although I would need to check). Once it works, it's actually really great, I mainly use it for my terminal and browser debug tools. It's nice to have some extra space.
- AhtiK 7y agoCould you double-check if it's really a 2015 and if it's early or something else, what cpu? My early 2015 shows error for Sidecar/not enabled and supposedly requires at least a Skylake CPU. EDIT: my Q was more likely to woutr_be, where it was enabled..
- woutr_be 7y agoI have to correct myself, I have a 2016 model. So not sure if it works on a 2015.
- josteink 7y ago> I haven’t experienced any problems > it just never works the first time Make up your mind. These two statements are not compatible.
- woutr_be 7y agoThey are, the first one is referring to the Catalina upgrade in general, where I haven't experienced any problems, either with the OS, or the existing software I use. The second one is specifically referring to SideCar as an individual feature.
