>“My argument is with people who dismiss intelligent design without considering, it seems to me — it’s widely dismissed in my world of academia as some sort of theological put up job — it’s an absolutely serious scientific argument,” Gelernter said during his interview.
I wonder what testable hypotheses stemming from Intelligent Design Gelernter would propose investigating? He must have at least one if he considers it to be a "serious scientific argument." Perhaps discussing those scientific specifics was outside the scope of this puff piece?
- gargarplex 7y agoWhat if an alien, intelligent life force designed the big bang as a procedural generation of some eventual purpose? Although I don't necessarily see that in conflict with Darwin, as natural selection could be an aspect of intelligent design.
- SpikeDad 7y agoGuess he wasn't paying attention to the Dover trial. ID is nothing more than Creationism after some rather sloppy search and replace. Its not science and offers no testable hypotheses. Regardless of this guy's CS cred and large published output he has no credentials whatsoever to provide a professional opinion on Evolution, Natural Selection or Abiogenesis. Kind of like weather forecasters spouting about climate change.
