Gels are palatable?!? No matter the flavour, I find them disgusting and, ultimately, a necessary evil. Agreed on the ease of packing. You'll still need additional water to wash them down, though. On the other hand, although potatoes are mostly water, you might need to drink some more in order to swallow them.
