Minimal is good. I went the other way. A bit relevent to this subject matter is a redesign of blackjack I finished awhile ago. I wanted to make game characters out of the cards and put the player in a dungeon-like environment rather than the generic game table. Still working on v2, mainly updates to the graphics.
