Can I configure my laptop to only speak IPv6 so I can see what happens / how broken things are (or aren't)?
- trotsky 16y agoSure, but the simple answer is that nothing will work (unless you've painstakingly set up public v6 already, in which case 0.1% of the internet will work)
- trezor 16y agoYes you can, and it may not be a total disaster if 1. Have actual IPv6 connectivity. Chances are you don't. Teredo might save you in a transition period, but it depends on IPv4 so wont work with your experiment here. 2. You use a very narrow set of services. Currently I'm able to use IPv6 for usenet, google-services, facebook (although buggy with links back to the IPv4 site all over the place), Ubuntu-updates, Freenode and EFNet irc and -one- news-site. 3. And for google's services' to work you need their IPv6-addresses. Chances are you don't have them, because they don't expose them over DNS in public by default. If this covers all you use the internet for, you should be golden.
