It is built by people who understand how the human brain works and how to take advantages of the shortcomings of the human brain. That is why so many people inspite of knowing that it is bad for you are still unable to get rid of their habits. Sure people can quit watching those recommended videos anytime they want, but the feed is carefuly curated to make you keep watching and watching and potentially also altering your beliefs. That is I believe YouTube crosses the line. It has to remain responsible.
