  As the author stated in his story: "Credit card companies also play a key role by largely refusing to grant charge-backs to people who have been roped into a subscription without their knowledge, according to Baker". Which should have been worded: "Credit card companies are ACCOMPLICES BENEFITING IN THE CRIME by largely refusing to grant charge-backs to people who have been roped into a subscription without their knowledge, according to Baker". Obviously the cc companies are received their cut of the loot in every charge that goes through, a percentage of the ill gotten gains . . . From personal experience, I had a merchant account in the 90's and I discovered even then that CC companies had TEAMS of well paid lobbyists paying off politicians to allow them the privilege to keep ripping off customers like this (THAT'S THE REAL STORY). Many business people I know have horror stories to share about their merchant accounts, these CC people are on the level of telemarketers in smoke filled boiler rooms. If it wasn't for Facebook and the CC companies, these scammers could not perpetrate their crimes.
