I probably read 75/25% fiction, non-fiction, so for me it's mostly about entertainment. A few years ago i started takin serious notes, using memory palaces and other stuff to try help to remember more but it made reading a lot less enjoyable, so i stopped. These days I tell my better half or a friend or a work colleague about the interesting things i read and that is a good balance between remembering and enjoying reading.
