Happened just this year, was informed in a Wednesday, had an interview for my new job on friday and the acceptance the next Wednesday. Overall the total time I didn't know where I was going was about 1 week + the 2 weeks or so it took to negotiate the contract and get it in my hands. It was ok, got decent severance and ultimately I'm quite happy to have moved on to greener pastures
