How are inputs entered into these systems. Consider for example Trump's decision to withdraw US from Syria. I assume there is a human somewhere that needs to tweak a variable "Conflict risks in the Middle East" or something as soon as possible after this news breaks? That can not be automated... or?

the algorithms usually trade based on sentiment. If it makes a bad trade, the humans override them afterwards and reversed the trade.
