Yes. I wouldn’t want to call quantum mechanics or evolution more than a theory either. QM has the advantage that it makes a lot of very precise predictions that can be tested. Evolution has the (weaker) advantage that pure chance is not an alternative explanation for the data. Anthropogenic climate change unfortunately lacks those two advantages.
