This sounds interesting. I think with bound service account tokens (https://github.com/kubernetes/community/pull/1460 https://github.com/kubernetes/community/pull/1460) things may improve; pods will be able to prove their identity without it being equivalent to giving away your k8s api access.
I don't think there is anything with the same guarantees as the Task ID, sadly.
