You can be talking about air pollution as CO2 or particulate or sulfur dioxide or a number of other things and which sort of pollution you're talking about makes a big difference in how polluting you should consider container ships to be. Also whether you're comparing tanker ships to other forms of freight or to overall pollution emissions or to the hunter gatherer lifestyle.
