I think maybe not everyone outside the US thinks of "manifest destiny" the same way? In the US we learned "Manifest Destiny" as a part of US history, and very specific time in our country's history. It's the name of a time period, not just someone thinking about "manifest destiny". (at least that's the feeling I get from reading the comments here, I could be wrong, just hoping to clarify)
