Jesus Christ everyone, just pay some taxes
- Slimbo 7y agoThe Manx do pay tax, up to 20% income tax and 17.5% VAT (sales tax). Yes, it's low, but a little place with no need for military is cheap to run. There's plenty of countries with lower rates than that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_tax_rates https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_tax_rates
- mrec 7y agoThe UK spends just over 2% of GDP on defence. It's not a big part of the budget. Total government spending is around 40% of GDP.
- throwaway925 7y agoYou: Pay 40%-50% of your hard earned salary, get nothing in return, for people you don't know, and you know they hate you and are completely ungrateful. They: "Jesus Christ, pay some taxes"
- lexs 7y ago> get nothing in return, for people you don't know, and you know _they_ hate you The sentiment expressed in your post is dangerous populism against an imaginary "other". In case anyone actually believes this and is not just trolling on a throwaway then check at least the broadest of breakdowns of public spending to see "what you get" [0]. - throwaway925 7y agoDo I get welfare (24%)? No Do I use health (20%)? No Do I earn pensions (13%)? No Does UK give me public education (12%)? No Did I need any public borrowing (6%)? No And neither I intend on leveraging these services despite living in UK. Therefore I can continue using "They", "The parasites", "Useless welfare recipients"
