Remember that successful products aren't necessarily good or beneficial. Tetraethyl lead in gasoline is one example. The Late nineteenth, early 20th century radium craze was full of other examples.
- buboard 7y agoMutations in nature also aren't random and generally small. Different types occur with different probability, and nucleotides are replaced with other nucleotides and not some new life form. But just like startups, mutations are blind to whether they will be beneficial or not. Lamarck's idea of inheritance is not really related to this.
