That doesn't make any sense. I have code running on micro-controllers, that has been running 24/7 for 10 years. It's never going to "degrade", the hardware may fail but the code is solid. I also have a maintenance contract for one of these: https://arsandbox.ucdavis.edu/ https://arsandbox.ucdavis.edu/ It turns itself off at night and back on in the morning. 3 years running now without touching it once, used by hundreds of people daily.
