'AI research is making great strides toward its long-term goal of human-level or superhuman intelligent machines.' This is what irritates me about articles like this. They state this (and then this one then comes up with a bunch of weak arguments supposedly representing the opposition) but provide no evidence of these great strides. What we've had great strides in (as far as I know) is the application of increasing computational power for specific applications. Which is great, but is _not_ getting us nearer that goal.
