Current weak AIs can do one thing at a time like composing music or answering jeopardy questions or recognizing a cat on a picture or playing go and won against humans... I think the breakthrough will happen when someone manages to create a weak AI which can write code.
- AnimalMuppet 7y agoWhat kind of code? Code that satisfies a spec? Then the AI needs to be able to understand the spec. Code that works? Then the AI needs to be able to tell whether the code works. For either of those, I think we need more than "weak AI". Of course, a weak AI may be able to write syntactically valid code that doesn't necessarily work. That's... not much of a breakthrough.
