Out of curiosity how would your day to day work look like? There's an interesting article that explains why "freelance developers" (or devops or whatever) are not actual consultants because they are paid to do something, not to know something (https://daedtech.com/software-consulting/ https://daedtech.com/software-consulting/). I would also like to reach a level where I get paid to share my expertise, given a specific context, without actually building the solution but, like somebody already said, seems way harder than building and marketing your own products until something sticks.
