- prepend 7y agoThere’s a category of restaurants, common in the south, where a customer picks a type of meat and three vegetables at a certain price. Commonly served cafeteria style. It usually means the food is cooked in large portions throughout the day and served in single portions. Fun side effect, many in my large southern city are now owned and operated by Chinese and Vietnamese families. It’s neat seeing a southern tradition carried on by a new set of people. Reminds me of how many Mexican restaurants in Manhattan in 2000 were run by Chinese families.
