I don't find pronunciation extremely difficult (as spanish has most of the 'sounds' already), but in most cases, as the word 'lead', can be parsed easily according to context. What infuriates me the most of the english language is phrasal verbs. There is no rule and no context-parsing, and can mean completely different things.
