I work remotely, have the last 5 years. I love daily standups. Here's why:
1. We do all of our work business async. (e.g. what did you do? what are you working on? All that stays in slack)
2. We use our standups for ice-breaker questions and company-wide announcements. (e.g. Everyone talks about what their favorite vacation was, which usually creates quite the conversation. And then afterwards, the team heads will give any critical updates they have, which usually are none)

I would be very pissed off if I had to show up on time just to hear about my coworkers' vacations.
- buf 7y ago> I work remotely I have no commute. Hearing another human being is a welcome change from sitting in my home office all day.
- thrower123 7y agoI am pretty sure that I would commit some kind of X-icide if I had to take productive time out of my day for forced social chit-chat of this nature. They had best have at least donuts available as recompense for inflicting this kind of atrocity. Pizza or Chinese takeout would be more appropriate.
