I come to prefer standup over slack, 10:30amish everyday a 30 second message of.
-I did x yesterday and am doing y today.
- I am blocked/need a (answer, code review, dependency completed, ect).
-reminder of OOO or WFH.
This minor message keeps everyone in the loop and takes little time. If you feel pressure to deliver because of standup I would say that's a cultural issue... or a self performance one (aka why have you been working on x for 2 weeks).
- vfc1 7y agoIt's not a cultural issue, it's human nature. You are being asked about your performance daily in front of your group of peers. This will obviously psychologically pressure you to finish things ASAP, so that you can say that its done on the next standup. And that is why management like standups so much, I mean why not say what it is actually for, instead of coming up with all these other side explanations.
