As someone who identifies with the left in India (and has always been atheist), I have to say this is unfair and really quite silly. The Gita and other religious and literary texts like it are important cultural artifacts. They have existed since before there was such a thing as left wing vs right wing. They may have been co-opted by particular political parties to suit particular ends, but that doesn't make them the property of those parties. Please don't associate them with politics in this way.
