It is useful, though, to compare results of projects with different budgets. There are papers tackling the same problem with 4 orders of magnitude difference in computing. Including an objective metric in the results would be worthwhile. In this case, the metric I want is either TFLOPs (for a commercially available architecture) or kWh (for some in-house machine) rather than tons of CO2, which depends on their power source.
