- abakker 7y agocan you personally recommend any open source solutions that are reasonably plug and play?
- petschge 7y agosyncthing[1] works nicely for me. [1] https://syncthing.net/ https://syncthing.net/
- dole 7y agoFor Windows users, SyncThing is normally a local browser app; SyncTrayZor wraps Syncthing into a more familiar SysTray app. (Made finally ditching Dropbox a lot less daunting so I sing its praises on here when I can.) https://github.com/canton7/SyncTrayzor https://github.com/canton7/SyncTrayzor
- mjhagen 7y agoI went to Syncthing as well and it works, but it's still no match for the DropBox of a few years ago.
- lotsofpulp 7y agoI don’t understand why one would expect to be able to compete with iCloud, google drive, one drive. They have so much cash to burn.
- scarface74 7y agoHave you ever known Apple to “burn cash”? They have this crazy idea that products should be sold at a profit.
- lotsofpulp 7y agoAs in, whatever you can do, they can do better, since they are able to spend so much more.
- scarface74 7y agoIt’s not they can do it “better”. They can do it “good enough” so that most people aren’t willing to use a smaller vendor and where the value add is not enough to have a sustainable business - see Dropbox, Spotify, Etc.
